ABOUT OUR PROGRAM
In 2013, Sports Medicine rehab specialist Tuan Nguyen created TKB Baseball, a Youth Baseball Development Program for elite athletes. For over 25 years Tuan has treated professional athletes from all over the world. He has also spent the last four years coaching Travel Baseball. Tuan’s coaching has taken him from local tournaments at Twin Creeks and throughout California to National Tournaments in Florida and Arizona. Tuan’s mission is to create a program for high level baseball players ranging from U12 – U18, that focuses on individual player development supported by a strong coaching staff, regular bi-weekly training and an emphasis on fostering a higher level of detailed baseball fundamentals. TKB Baseball’s goal is to help players achieve their dream of playing baseball at the next level.
Tuan personally recruits and hand-picks each and every one of his TKB Baseball players. If you ask him about the type of player he is looking at, he will tell you that it’s not necessarily the High School superstar but rather the player with the heart, discipline and passion to play good baseball. His recruiting process takes Tuan all over Northern California. His long history of treating professional athletes and working directly with both Professional and College coaches has given him the knowledge to hand-pick skilled and talented athletes who can be developed to their highest potential. TKB Baseball wants players who can face and compete against the superstar athletes in local and national tournaments. His philosophy is that once you hit against the star pitcher who throws a 90mph fastball, then you know you can do it again. This strategy prepares, challenges and develops the players to play in High School, College and beyond.
“All my kids are good kids…” Tuan says. “They keep it clean and they go out and play good baseball.”
TKB Baseball is unlike any other youth baseball program. The players have the opportunity to perfect their game, face high level baseball challenges and experience life changing opportunities. In season, the teams practice twice a week with a coaching staff of four; pitching, infield, outfield and a head coach. Because of Tuan’s relationship with professional athletes, most practice sessions will include a local retired MLB player who works with the boys. Each team carries a roster of no more than 15 players ensuring that each individual team member is given an opportunity for success.
The top 18 players in TKB have the opportunity for the life changing cultural experience of traveling to China to play in an International Tournament. This July, for the second year in a row, TKB Baseball will travel to Beijing, China. Tuan’s relationship with NBA player Yao Ming and all the Chinese National players helped him facilitate bringing the team on this once-in-a-lifetime journey to the far east. Tuan hand-picks the best players in the Bay Area to travel to Beijing to play against the best Chinese Baseball teams. In 2016, the TKB Baseball team were the only team invited by China to go 5-0 in the tournament. The players faced the incredible pitching talent of the Chinese players all while experiencing a new country and culture. The players returned home with a wider outlook on their game and life.
